Summersville Memorial Hospital marks 30 years of growth and upgrades
Summersville Memorial Hospital celebrates 30 years since opening in 1968 as a 74-bed long term care facility. The 1988 expansion added private delivery rooms, nursery and a larger emergency department. 1993 saw a new ICU, 1996 the ambulatory center. Admin says a $1.2 million fourth floor renovation is underway as outpatient lab moves into the new building basement. SMH served 9,200 outpatients, 26,000 ER visits and radiology tests, and 2,000 admissions in 1997.
