Doctor Answers reader questions on asthma, sweating, empyema
The doctor explains asthma surgery may aid emphysema by freeing trapped air though no reports confirm it. Teen sweat complaints improve with daily deodorant use and hexachlorophene soap, plus emotional calm. Excessive sweating in older adults is often stress related. medicines can help but have side effects. Empyema is pus between lung and chest wall. smoking is not the direct cause and treatment depends on disease cause, with possible drainage or removal of the empyema sac. Please send questions for future columns.
