Skull found near railroad may identify missing Fayette man
Railroad workers found a bullet pierced skull near McKendree between Cairmont and Fair about 8:30 a.m. It is believed to be E. C. Slick Gwinn, 76, missing since July 4, 1962, though authorities say the skull age and dental match are inconclusive. Sheriff Elmore and Gwinn's sons viewed the remains as the search paused due to heavy rain.

State Surplus Expected For West Virginia At Year End
West Virginia will finish the fiscal year with a surplus of 3,325,406 dollars, state finance officials said. Commissioner Truman E. Gore noted the Board of Public Works had projected 5.2 million but released about 1.8 million for projects. Estimated revenue totaled 146,465,000 with gross sales tax and inheritance tax above estimates while consumer sales tax fell short.

Medical Professor Warns Aspirin May Cause Ulcers And Anemia
Dr James Roth of the University of Pennsylvania warns aspirin can cause internal bleeding leading to ulcers and anemia. West Virginia authorities arrived to transfer Henry Bragg a 31 year old barge worker who confessed to the 1952 slaying of Denzil Sands during a card game near Clarksburg. Bragg was lodged in a New Jersey jail awaiting extradition to WV after a barge arrest in Barnegat Bay.
