Kilgore warns graduates against ostrich thinking and rubber stamping
Senator Harley M. Kilgore of West Virginia urges West Virginia State College graduates to reject ostrich thinking and a rubber stamp mentality in public affairs. He cautions against clinging to secrets of atomic bomb manufacture and calls for an international agency to prevent future war, noting states must cede some sovereignty to avoid isolationism. Russia’s cautions and global stakes are discussed as part of the argument for vigilant, informed citizenship.
