Railroader Constructs Model Locomotive Over Nine Years
A Virginian Railway telegraph agent from Lester, Virginia, conceived a steam cylinder driven miniature locomotive. The 4-6-4 Pacific-type model uses about 2,000 parts with 600 more needed, built mostly from scrap and finished at Glen White shops. It runs on air, steam, coal or wood, with a top speed around 30 mph on blocks, and could fetch $500 if sold.
