The plan includes shrub replacement and dogwood planting around the home area and roadways during spring. Virginian Railroad officials report December coal loadings fell 41.9 percent from 1948. mines in the area worked 11 days that month totaling 747,185 tons, vs 1,287,070 tons in December 1948. PINEVILLE The highway into Pineville was partially blocked Friday by a slide from above. The thawing ice caused rocks to tumble onto the roadway, confining traffic to one lane for hours until crews cleared the debris. A second slide between Brenton and Baileysville Thursday morning required heavy state road equipment to remove debris.
