Sacrificial game in four spades and four hearts
In a delicate bridge contest, the Italian South opened three spades. West bid four hearts and North sacrificed at four spades. The defense cashed two tricks in each red suit, yet failed to prevent the trump winner. If the East hand swapped the queen of clubs and three of diamonds for Norths jacks of diamonds and clubs, North and South could still take eight spades and East-West would claim four hearts.
