Vines Resigned One of His Two Jobs Says It Was Illegal
Fred Vines of Ghent says he resigned one of his two public jobs fifteen days ago due to illegality of holding both at once. He held posts as conservator of the peace at Flat Top Lake and as DMV titles and registrations investigator. Records show salaries totaling about 3,900 yearly for conservator duties and 4,900 for 1964 at the DMV, with the lake association paying the conservator via the court. Vines claims private investigation work for the DMV and defends keeping multiple roles, accusing political opponents of stirring trouble.

Sundown Marks Beginning Of The Passover
Sundown marks the start of Passover, the 3000 year old Jewish festival. The week long observance begins with the Seder, a home ritual meal with symbolic foods: matzoh, bitter herbs, and charoset. The father tells the exodus story as the family recalls liberty from Egypt. The youngest asks why this night differs. A hidden matzah search adds a family reward.
