Poultry and rabbit shows moved up at Quay County Fair
Avian influenza concerns prompt the Quay County Extension Service to advance the 4 H and FFA poultry and rabbit shows to August 1. Erin Smith says the move affects at least 14 exhibitors and about 100 animals, with no open entries and shows ending the same day. The rest of livestock events stay August 7 to 10.

National tour fundraiser at Paws & Claws in Tucumcari
Jordan's Way launches its third 50 state tour with a July 18 fundraiser at Paws & Claws Animal Rescue in Quay County. The 10 am to 1 pm event at 6427 Quay Road AI will feature challenges and games and will stream live on the shelter's Facebook page. Kris Rotonda founded the tour to honor his dog Jordan who died after years in a shelter. Since 2021 the tours have raised about 8.5 million for shelters nationwide. Local president Kathi McClelland aims to raise at least 15,000 for the Tucumcari shelter with room to grow.
