Largest Sugar Beet Plot Located North At Arimo
The 250 acre sugar beet field on the Robinson Taylor farm at Arimo Idaho is the state’s largest single field. Produced by Franklin County Sugar company for the Preston factory, it will yield about 3300 tons of beets and 1 100 000 pounds of sugar plus 300 000 pounds of molasses. German POW labor crews harvest and thin the crop under Captain T J Combe. Beet tops will fatten up to 3000 lambs and hundreds of cattle. irrigation uses the Purtneuf river.
