Mapleton farmer dies in head-on collision near school
Hyrum Taylor sixty two of Mapleton was killed Wednesday night when his car collided head on with a wheat truck driven by his son in law Leslie Gregory near the Mapleton school. Gregory was en route to Preston with a load of wheat. Taylor died en route to hospital. Burial set for Preston cemetery with funeral arrangements at Hendricks mortuary.

More German POWs Arrive to Aid Harvest near Preston

Hay Crop Destroyed In Franklin Farmyard Blaze
Monday evening a fire at the Roland Parkinson farm in Franklin consumed three stacks of hay, destroying the entire crop of Mr. Parkinson and his brother Burnice.
