Mountain States Telephone seeks higher Idaho rates
The Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company asked the Idaho Public Utilities Commission for a readjustment of Idaho rates. Idaho VP J. W. Heckman said current earnings are below what is needed to stay financially sound, despite ongoing expansion and wage costs. The company cites higher plant costs per line, sales efforts, and substantial payroll as factors reducing net earnings. It notes 18 percent more telephones since 1955 and plans to complete additional dial conversions, with 81 percent of Idaho phones dial operated.
