Rainbow trout planted in Franklin County reservoirs and rivers
Franklin County Fish and Game Association reports 550 118 rainbow trout released since April 25 in area waters. Glendale reservoir and Twin Lakes received thousands of rainbows ranging from two to ten inches, with Bear River and Treasureton reservoirs also stocking sizeable numbers. Cutthroats were planted in Cottonwood Cub River and Mink Creek with multiple inch ranges.

Harvest Vacation Starts Today for East Side Schools
Harvest vacation begins today for East side students and will run until next Thursday weather permitting. Absences earlier in the year rose from influenza but improved attendance is hoped after the break. Firemen answered a grass fire call Wednesday night at 525 South First East Preston resulting in a destroyed barn and hay before containment. The department logged 10 alarms in September, one of the busiest months recently.

Union Pacific Wins Third Major Safety Award

Acreage Agreements Remain in Effect Through December 31

Dr James H Bell named new faculty member at Utah State University USU in dairy and veterinary science. Hobbs Preston Youth Dies Friday After Operation
Milo and Bertha Hobbs of Breston report their son Preston Hobbs born April 19, 1939. He died Friday at Ogden Hospital after a major operation. Survived by his parents two brothers and a sister Mrs Charlene Richards Murray Utah and grandfather W A Skidmore Provo. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a priest at the time of his death.

Preston Indians Rout Snake River Panthers 19 0 in Homecoming
Preston Indians defeated Snake River Panthers 19 to 0 in the homecoming game. The Indians scored 13 points in the first half and held the visitors scoreless with a first quarter touchdown and successful extra point. A second quarter interception set up a 25 yard pass and another touchdown with good point after. The halftime score remained 13 0. Alumni assembly opened festivities with prizes awarded for floats and a parade followed. Homecoming queen Connie Jean Affleck and attendants were presented at halftime and a homecoming dance closed the events.
