More than two months after a March 7 blaze damaged the First Security bank building in Preston repair work began this Tuesday. Estimated damage was about $75,000. The Golden Rule store on the main floor has been out of business and the north half of the building lacked a roof. The Lancaster Easting auto parts firm will move to a vacated space, with J N Larsen relocating. Preston Elks continue meetings, aided by neighboring lodges.

Mink Creek Man Injured in Mishap At Rail Crossing
Ezra Larsen of Mink Creek was admitted to a Blackfoot hospital after a collision with a Union Pacific train at a railroad crossing near the Blackfoot stock yards. Larsen, driving behind a trailer, said the trailer blocked his view and he struck the train after the trailer passed. He suffered shock and injuries to his neck and shoulder, was treated and released the next day.

The Franklin County Fish and Game Association sponsors a magpie drive this Sunday May 2 to reduce the magpie nests. Leaders Monte Aller and Evan Peterson will direct work at designated areas starting 8 30 am at the ball park. Bounty on adult magpie heads totals 10 cents with seven cents from the state and three from the local group. Mishap Report Highlights Driver Caution Across County Roads
State and county authorities report several accidents this week stressing safer driving. John Sparks of Banida ran off Highway 91 into a creek after passing a truck on the wrong side. A Weston area collision near Weston and Cornish involved Ladell Tingey and Ezra Benson. stop sign failure cited. Vera Benson and Sharon Benson were treated for injuries and both drivers lived in Weston. Damages estimated at about $100 per vehicle. Another collision near Franklin damaged two cars about $300 each, involving Blaine Saunders and Kenneth Oliverson with contributing factors listed as speed and lack of clearance.

Police recovered a 1947 Kaiser sedan stolen in Pocatello within 15 minutes of the alert. Ralph Kerley of West Frankfort was taken into custody after local officers were notified at 10 30 p m Saturday and captured at 10 45 p m. Hyrum Georgeson Dies in Pocatello at 76
Hyrum Georgeson 76 a resident of Oxford died Wednesday morning at the home of his son Wilbur in Pocatello after an extended illness. He was born December 5 1871 at Treasureton, son of Nels and Johanna Georgeson. He moved to Weston as a boy and in 1900 settled in Oxford where he farmed. He married Minnie L Georgeson in the Salt Lake Temple in 1907. Surviving are his widow and two sons Wilbur of Pocatello and Donald of Downey, eight grandchildren, nine brothers and sisters.
