Skunks on Increase in Franklin County Says County Agent
County Agent DeVere Tovey reports skunks are increasing in Franklin County based on farmer and resident observations. Skunks are usually beneficial but may become pests near homes or poultry houses. They forage at night, eating insects mice grubs berries and mushrooms. To drive them from buildings use naphthalene or moth balls and seal openings. Vinegar or household bleach can remove their odor from belongings.
