California Rationing May Sink Pleasure Power Boats
Sacramento harbor master David Schultz warns rationing could force boaters to use car allotments as fuel becomes scarce. He notes power boats burn 5 to 10 gallons per hour and many locals rely on boats for recreation. Los Angeles officials warn the plan would hardship power boats while sailboats and trailers may also be affected. Bill Hines of the Pacific Interclub Yachting Association says power boats could be first in line to fall, with diesel boats uncertain.
