Students seize Athens Polytechnic in anti Papadopoulos protest
About two thousand students barricaded themselves inside the Athens Polytechnic Institute and raised banners calling for the overthrow of President Papadopoulos and his government. Police offered no intervention as supporters brought blankets and food, and the building was covered with slogans including Down with Papadopoulos and Out with the Americans. A student spokesman said supplies would be unlimited and the protest could last for some time. The takeover followed campus protests across Athens after the November 4 antigovernment rioting verdicts.
