In Benevento Italy a child named Giuseppina Gras si 2 was treated for shock after a passenger train ran over her while she lay between the rails. She wandered from her family and slipped onto the tracks near here as an Avellino Benevento train passed over her, her distraught father rushing to the scene. The other child involved also suffered shock but no serious injuries.
A passenger train struck a crowded bus at a rail crossing in western Turkey and dragged it 150 yards along the tracks before halting. Police said 14 people were killed and seven injured in the crash near Istanbul.
Everett Washington reports General Telephone Co and the Electrical Workers union reached a tentative contract at 7:30 a.m. after an all-night bargaining session. The agreement ends a strike called 73 hours earlier, with 2,600 workers to vote via mail referendum on the terms in Washington Oregon and Northern California.
