London born Edward Hobbs a 42 year old veteran of British service and American citizen held a Christmas party for 200 of the Great Lakes Naval Hospital 1113 patients providing stockings music and refreshments. His Chicago Northwest side beauty salon customers donated most fixings and 600 to 700 patients went home for Christmas. He began in 1963 after customers gave gifts and started annual gifts and a holiday fund. In 1966 he expanded to a party and this year he added a July Christmas morale lift for sailors.
