Speed and Risk on American Highways
Between 1925 and 1934 urban auto deaths rose 17 percent while rural deaths nearly doubled. Last year nearly 160000 accidents on rural highways caused about 14900 deaths, with speed cited as a major factor. City street deaths from 300000 accidents were only 6000, underlining highway danger.
