Farmers spread poison on wheat fields to curb hoppers

Polk county farmers spread grasshopper bait in wheat fields. Hoppers concentrate in fence rows this time of year and can be poisoned by morning bait when temperatures are 75 to 90 degrees. Grasshopper bait available at Pierson Feed Mill in Osceola daily 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. More hoppers killed now reduce next spring’s population as they lay eggs.

Horstmans Attend School Masters Banquet in Kearney

Mr and Mrs Henry Horstman traveled to Kearney for a Weekend visit and attended the Nebraska School Masters Club banquet at Fort Kearny hotel with about 175 guests. Chancellor Benjamin F Swartz of Nebraska Weseyan University spoke on European affairs and US relations. Rev John M Pattison gave the invocation and music was by the State Teachers College under D R Appelman.
