What Have They Done Blood Drive Plea From Carrier Crew
The crew of the U S S Princeton spent days at sea near Korea and donated 1300 pints of blood for wounded in Korea. They would have given 200 more if containers existed. The town of Stromsburg with 510 people donated 27 pints in August. A Polk County bloodmobile, sponsored by the Legion Auxiliary, visits in November. A Polk church reception for teachers and new members was hosted at the Methodist Church on Thursday. Oscar Sundberg presided as toastmaster as the program included welcome remarks, a vocal duet, a reading of new members' names, a Rev. Walker talk, solos by Mrs. Lindburg, a Keeping Trim demonstration, and a skit titled Pokey Huntus performed by eighteen youths. About 100 refreshments were served by the activity committee led by Mrs. Ostberg and others.
