The American Legion Auxiliary held its September meeting presided by Josephine Osberg. Plans include selling defense stamps to school children, ordering 1500 poppies, serving lunch for the hospital, and meeting with committee members Orphe Davis, Lauretta Neuhaus, Ana Eisler, Margaret Jones, and Ella Dahlin. State Fair 4-H Ribbon Winners Highlight Local Youth

Don Miller arrives in the United States aboard the attack carrier USS Princeton scheduled to reach San Francisco California. Miller is an aviation machinist’s mate third class and son of Mr. and Mrs. Orlie Miller. The Princeton a Korean conflict carrier logged 457 combat days over three tours off the Northeast Korean coast and will transfer Air Group 15 squadrons to Moffet Field before heading to San Diego and Miramar for disembarkation.

Obituary of Fred G Peterson of Stromsburg Nebr
Fred G Peterson born August 10 1882 in Galva Illinois died September 16 1953 at 71 in Stromsburg Nebraska. He moved to Polk County with his parents at age three and lived on a Stromsburg area farm his life. He was baptized Galva Swede Plain Church and attended local schools and church activities. He is survived by his brother John sister Mrs Hilda Anderson of Laramie Wyoming five nieces three nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were at the Stromsburg Methodist Church with Rev Randall and burial in Stromsburg Cemetery.

The Rhode family returned from Baker Montana after ten days with the Pennow family and touring the Black Hills. H B Mutffley of Lincoln was a guest in John Bills home.
