Stromsburg Lady Dies After Highway Collision
Mrs. H. H. Weaver, 65, of Stromsburg, died after being struck on Highway 81 by a car driven by Mrs. W. M. Scott. Witnesses said Scott failed to see Weaver due to city lights and a dustbank. Weaver died at 10:30 PM after hospital care in York. She leaves husband H. H. Weaver and children Franklin, Myrna, and Mrs. Lloyd Hilligas. Funeral services were held at the home and Methodist Church.

Neal McNaught, one mile west of Polk, harvested 75 bushels of high grade alfalfa seed from 35 acres. Seed sold at about $15.50 per bushel, yielding roughly $1,170. Ira Shostrom threshed the seed on W. J. Kroger’s farm.

Widening of Platte River Bridge Nears Completion
The Platte River bridge on Highway 14 south of Central City is nearly finished. Concrete for the permanent floor is to be poured early this week. About 20 men are employed as traffic routes shift to alternate highways around town.

Road Meet at Wahoo Draws Polk County Delegation
A large Polk County group attended a road meeting at Wahoo called by the Omaha Chamber of Commerce. The goal is immediate paving of No. 16 from Clarks to Wahoo to relieve traffic on No. 30. Governor Cochran earlier supported No. 16 improvements to handle growing traffic. Some towns along No. 30 oppose, but proponents argue No. 16 paving is near.

The REA allocates 5000 dollars in loans to Polk County farmers for wiring their properties. Loans run five years with six percent interest and are repayable in at least two payments per year. Poles are slow but 125 miles of holes and 50 miles of pales sets completed. Meters contract approved. two car loads of wire expected daily.
