Business visitors and local store expansion noted

W. P. Miller was a business visitor at Aurora Friday. Mrs. Dave Eckdahl returned home Saturday after visiting relatives and friends at Scottsbluff. Sundberg and Son have rented the building owned by Mrs. A. C. Quillen, formerly occupied by The Pork Progress, and will use it as a storage space for larger unseasonable items, increasing display room in their main store.

Bedient Family Back From Week With Relatives

Kelly resigns as Polk county agricultural agent

At the Osceola farm bureau meeting F B Kelly presented his resignation as county agent for Polk county after nearly 11 years of service. J P Ross of the extension service will assist in filling the vacancy and will recommend candidates after the board accepts the resignation. The action is effective at year’s end. Kelly may take a position in another county.

Swede Home Luther League to Meet in Church Parlors

The Swede Home Luther League will meet in church parlors Thursday evening with hostesses from the Jones and Swanson families. Local residents and visitors from Osceola Stromsburg Benedict and Polk areas attended gatherings this weekend including Mrs. Lind of Texas. Rural Electrification Progress and Farm Wiring Rules

Poles are arriving and crews are setting posts across about 40 miles of line with 100 miles dug. Wiring farmhouses is advancing rapidly under REA guidelines, with multiple crews and house connections ongoing. A notice urges electricians to follow the service entrance standards, meter placement, and wiring clearances specified by REA standards.

Judge Landis Breaks Arm in Riding Accident

District Judge H. D. Landis fractured his upper left arm Sunday while riding near Seward. He did not fall from the horse but the saddle turned in a ditch and his lunge caused the fracture during the ride with friends.

Second Notice on Thistle Control in Polk County

Sheriff Gunnard Peterson of Polk County warns that many fields and roadsides remain infested with Russian and Canadian thistles. Despite a prior notice, several parties have failed to act, and Nebraska law imposes penalties. This second notice calls for immediate cooperation to control the pests or prosecutions will begin.
