Community festival born from Lawrence county heritage
Lawrence county Arkansas formed the Lawrence County Development Council in 1962 to boost culture and economy. The group funded a one mill tax, built an industrial building, organized water and sewer projects, housing for the elderly, and a new courthouse plan. They created a commemorative pageant named the Mother of Counties featuring 300 participants from 17 communities with a site in Lynn. The project inspired a county historical society and a color film, with plans to expand as a tourist draw.
