Allotment notices issued for 1966 wheat program
The ASCS County Office mailed 1966 farm wheat allotment notices to Polk County farmers on Friday September 10 1965. Most allotments for 1966 are smaller than 1965 because the national wheat allotment was cut from 49.5 to 47.8 million acres a 3.4 percent drop. The law allows a small farm increase for 1964 and 1965 crops, potentially lifting the total to about 52 million acres. Chairman Richard C. Sealey notes congress must enact farm legislation to finalize details.
