A crowd watched the sacred sound film And Now I See at Arborville Congregational Church Tuesday evening. Local clergy and residents noted community figures including Rev. E Earle Eaton and Hope Gwendolynne traveling to Omaha for Christian Endeavor matters.

Polk Games Announced Over Loud Speaking System

More than 600 spectators watched Polk host Stromsburg on Friday night with a new crow nest at the east bleachers. Everett Green used the loud speaker to describe the play by play, supported by local merchants. Mr and Mrs Delwyn Anderson of Oakland visited Oscar Sundberg and attended the Doris Binford and Don Ostberg wedding.

Polk County Farms In Conservation Contest Highlights

Lavelle Lamoree near Osceola and other Polk County farms are profiled in the World Herald Soil Conservation recognition contest. Lamoree sures water retention with contour cropland and grassed areas. Fredrickson and Andersons describe irrigation upgrades, dams, and terraces improving erosion control and water management. Bruce Anderson serves as district board secretary treasurer. Fredrickson on the board for three years.

Stromsburg visitors and scarlet fever quarantine

Mr and Mrs Vergil Flodman and Junior visited Lawrence Lind in Stromsburg on Sunday afternoon. Pamela and Allen Cramer the daughter and son of Mr and Mrs Ivan Cramer are quarantined with scarlet fever.

Blood Mobile Sets Record in Osceola Visit

The Red Cross Blood Mobile visited Osceola on Friday September 16 drawing 104 pints from 122 donors, the largest first visit total for the county. Polk County Red Cross praised the efforts of Ruth Frederick and local volunteers, with blood stored at St Francis Hospital and future plasma and sera to be provided free to residents.

Swede Plains Methodist Church to be painted this year

The Swede Plains Methodist Church will have the exterior painted soon after the wheat sowing, by volunteer church men. Rally Day is observed next Sunday, and JoAnn Lind, president of the Senior Youth Fellowship, hosted the society Monday evening. Promotion Sunday at Polk Methodist Church is September 25 with certificates awarded and a 20 minute program at the 11 o'clock service.

Mr and Mrs Alvin Smith called on the Junior Sealey family Monday night. Mr and Mrs Lloyd Hahn and Enoch Peterson transacted business at Scribner Wednesday. Mr and Mrs Clifford Branting visited the home of their daughter Mrs Rex Hancock and family at Hastings Sunday. They heard Marjoe Gartner five year old evangelist from Los Angeles speak and sing at the Hastings auditorium.

The 4 H reports and summaries show splendid records aligning with County Fair exhibits. Achievement programs led by Agents demonstrate strong work by clubs under capable leadership. Rural Youth work advances after a committee meeting with Guy Davis from the State Extension Office. Doris Binford Weds Donald Ostberg In Polk Church Ceremony

Doris Binford daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Binford married Donald Ostberg son of Mr and Mrs Ilos Ostberg in a 730 pm Methodist Church ceremony in Polk. Rev Paul Walker officiated as white asters and chrysanthemums adorned the altar. The couple will reside on a farm near Polk after a Minnesota wedding trip.

Kisler-Webehr Rites Solemnized Sunday

Anita Weber daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lindahl married Henry Kisler of Polk in Clarks Nebraska in a Sunday ceremony at the bride’s home. Rev Hansbury officiated with Marilyn Kuhlman accompanying and 96 guests attended the reception. The couple plans a wedding trip to Minnesota after which they will reside in Polk.

Polk County Teachers Meet in Shelby

Polk County teachers gathered in Shelby for a 7:30 dinner and evening of entertainment. New officers were elected for the year. Gloria Ann Jones, sister of Mrs. Horace Stevens, spent the weekend at the Stevens home. Mr. and Mrs. V L Kerker of Denver attended the Porter Blase wedding.

Osceola Blood Drive Draws 14 Donors for Red Cross

Fourteen Polk donors gave a pint each at the Red Cross Blood mobile unit in Osceola. Names include Lloyd Stromberg Robert Baack Dale Lindburg James Sundberg Arnold Neuhaus and several volunteers. Donors filled forms underwent health checks and a blood sample iron test then rested for recovery followed by a lunch. The unit reported 102 pints collected and plans another stop in March from Omaha.

Rally Day Observed at the Methodist Church

Rally Day was observed at the Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Walker delivering a timely message and Janice Sundberg providing special music on the organ. Mrs. C. J. McCoy spoke on the Nebraska missionary project and the Gerald Sumners Fund, with others recognizing church families and noting 24 families attended 100 percent. Francis Skinner traveled eight miles to attend, the greatest distance among members. Promotion Day for the Sunday School children is set for next Sunday.
