Tri County Rally Oct 1 Hearing National Leader

Christian Endeavor members from York Polk and Merrick counties will convene at Central City Sunday afternoon October 1 for a Tri-County rally. Al Goodrich, national field representative of C E, will address the gathering. First Goldenrod Conference Meets at Genoa

The Goldenrod Conference elected officers and set dues and admission rules at Genoa with Superintendent Coonley as president and Strickland as secretary. Plans include a Dramatics Festival on March 6 1951 and a Music Festival on March 30 1951, plus a May 2 1951 Track Meet and a March 12-14 grade basketball tournament at Polk.

Reception for Polk Teachers by Methodist Church

Over a hundred attended the Polk teachers reception held Thursday evening in the church parlors. Principal events included a group sing along with Welcome by Rev. Walker and a Polk teachers introduction by Superintendent Harvey Leamons.

Polk Boys Injured in Auto Accident Near Polk

An afternoon crash on a bridge south of Polk involved three boys, Roger and Kenneth Warner and Bud Cramer. Roger, driver, was thrown 25 feet with a broken jaw and other injuries and was taken by ambulance to Strdnixsburg. the other two sustained only bruises and minor injuries. The late model car was badly damaged.

Arborville Missionary Society installs new officers

The official missionary year began September 13 with Mrs. Harold Bedient as hostess and Mrs. Arthur Shultz as leader. Incoming officers include Pres. Mrs. Charles Burgess and 1st Vice Pres. Mrs. Harold Bedient. The group planned a film showing and November bazaar, with social refreshment to follow. The October meeting will be at Mrs. Leand Bower’s home on the 11th.

Graveling State Highways in Polk and York Counties

One of the maintenance grave projects is for work in York and Folk counties. State Highway No. 76 from Shelby south to U. S No 34 near Waco is to have over two thousand cubic yards of gravel placed on it.

Methodist Church Rally Brightens Sunday Service

Old and young attended the Methodist Church Rally on Sunday morning. Alvin Weber gave a welcome, four girls sang, and Mrs. Gustafson and others performed hymns. Sheralee Hill played organ. Over twenty families were present with four families sending five members. The Haufmans traveled 70 miles to attend. Rev. Paul Walker preached on the need of God in homes.

Boquet at Polk honors local blood donors

Special recognition is given to Polk donors who gave a pint of blood to support soldiers in Korea. Six donors and five women are praised for supplying among the 150 pints weekly, with notes on testing, health checks, and minimal pain.
