Community News From Stromsburg Family Gatherings

Mr and Mrs Reuben Jones and sons attended a Polk birthday gathering for Mrs L P Jones. Several families traveled to Illinois for visits and university plans, with Elizabeth staying in Chicago to attend Northwestern. A birthday celebration for Mrs Augusta Gustafson drew friends, and multiple households shared dinners and travels between Stromsburg Osceola and Denver.

Mrs Emil Anderson obituary places life in Swede Home Lutheran community

Mrs Ida Sofia Gustava Anderson nee Johnson was born February 11 1859 in Bringetofta parish Smaland Sweden. She emigrated to the USA in 1869 and lived in Altona Illinois before moving to Nyman Page County Iowa in 1871. She was confirmed 1874 and married Casper Johnson 1877 later moving to Polk County Nebraska near Osceola. Widowed 1886, she remarried J Emil Anderson in 1889 who died four years ago. She died September 6 1938 at 79 years 6 months 26 days. Survived by five children fourteen grandchildren seven great grandchildren and many friends. Funeral at home and Swede Home Lutheran church September 9 1938 Rev C A Sward in charge. Interment Swede Home Cemetery.

South Omaha Livestock Prices Report September 13 1938

Receipts of cattle at Omaha Monday totaled 18 000 head with cornfeds scarce and prices steady amid good demand. Best steers reached 11 50, heavy feeders 9 75, choice stock steers 8 75, and various cornfed and native cattle priced across the spectrum.
