High Prairie School Opens Fall Term With Increased Enrollment

High Prairie School opened September 6 with higher enrollment. Rodney Roberts returns as superintendent and Mrs Roberts as principal. Eve lyn Babcock leads the grade school. high school accredited to Nebraska and other state colleges assuring full transfer credits. Board members: Frank Bolton president Clair Willits secretary Axel Fredrickson treasurer. Regent's Scholarships awarded to two recent high school graduates.

Hordville Family Gathers for Weekend at Blomquist Home

A large gathering for a Sunday at the Aaron Blomquist residence included the Weburg Benson Kroger and Bengston families. Local students head to colleges this fall while several relatives and visitors joined in rural Hornville area activities and dinners.

Mrs Augusta Johnson and her brother August Hanquist hosted a Labor Day picnic in the city park with three sisters and many relatives from McPherson Kansas Hardville Voris and local families attending. Holm Holm and Chester Walgreen Wed in Swede Home Ceremony

Miss Iene Holm daughter of Mr and Mrs Nels Holm of Swede Home and Chester Walgreen were married Sunday morning September 6 in Swede Home church by Rev Sward. The bride wore a white satin gown trimmed in lace and ankle length. Attendants were LaVina Holm and Rolland Ekstrom. A luncheon followed at the bride’s home. The couple plans a wedding trip to Colorado and will settle on a farm west of Osceola.

Benedict social notes mention visitors and travel plans

Mrs A R Marshall and daughters and Mrs John Seymour visited Mr and Mrs Axel Lindquist in Benedict. Seymour stayed overnight and returned home Sunday. Marshall and family went to Omaha for the winter. Mr and Mrs Lawrence Olmstead Beaver City and Miss Esther Shepard Oxford stayed at F W Davis home from Saturday to Tuesday. The group attended the State Fair on Sunday.

Leand Bowers Take Over Arborville General Store

Mr and Mrs Leand Bowers became owners of the Arborville General Store in a deal this week. They purchased part of the business from A A Shockey, who had managed it for ten years and have taken possession immediately. The Shockeys plan to move to a farm south of Arborville soon.

Polk Commercial Club Meets Monday Evening

The regular monthly Polk Commercial Club meeting will be held in the I C C F Dining Hall on Monday evening September 14. This first fall meeting urges full attendance with a lunch served before the gathering at 6 30.

Danielson Johnson Wedding at Stromsburg Lutheran Church

A wedding solemnization took place Monday evening September 7 at 8 pm at the Lutheran Church of Stromsburg. Miss Helen Danielson and Prof. Oscar E. Olson of North Park College Chicago were married in a double ring ceremony. Rev. Alfred and Rev. Oscar Backlund officiated with a palms and white flower setting. A musical program preceded the ceremony and a reception followed at the Banta home. The couple will reside in Chicago.

Mr and Mrs Morris Fredrick welcomed a baby boy born Sunday September 6. Many local families visited and hosted gatherings at Clair Willets, Iver Osterman, and Clair Willets homes. The Swede Home Ladies Club and Junior Mission Band planned meetings, and a 25th wedding anniversary for Albert and Mrs. Johnson was celebrated with relatives from York and Omaha.
