Lipton the Tea Planter Greatly Admired in Life

Sir Thomas Lipton died in Osidge London on October 2 1931. World papers highlighted his philanthropy and yachtsman fame while underemphasizing his proudest title Tea Planter Ceylon. Lipton transformed Ceylon into a premier tea producer and earned royal recognition.

Robert Stromberg left for Washington DC after a month with his parents Mr and Mrs Oscar Stromberg. John Myers injured his hand dropping a front end on Monday forcing a layoff. A Sunday accident near Polk involved a Ford coupe driven by Walter Nelson colliding with a Dodge. occupants including Albert Sundberg and Oscar Sundberg sustained injuries and were hospitalized in York. Oscar Stromberg's stock trucked to Omaha with H B Johnson accompanying. return home Wednesday evening. Mr and Mrs Wm Kroger and Mr and Mrs D N Mills traveled to Lake.

Local Families Visit Relatives and People Move in 1923

Naomi Marguerite Nelson wed Merril L Warner at Council Bluffs and will live on a York County farm near Thayer. A G Lindburg to erect a filling station on South Main. Mr and Mrs Whitemore and Bedient of Arborville visit Whitemore’s brother’s family this week.

Marsland and Lincoln visitors plan Midwest trip

Marsland Nebraska and Claus Lindahl families visited the State Fair Tuesday. C A Jenner and Wilbur Whitacre traveled to Lincoln and will continue to Winfield Kansas to bring Wilbur's mother for a visit. Winnie and Lillie Lind return from Omaha to rest two weeks, with plans to visit Minneapolis soon. Frank Adelson returns from Akron Colorado and Denver trips to manage farm interests.

A judge questions a prisoner about a rug theft claim while the accused explains being told by a woman to return the item this morning. He says he beat the rug and complied with the instruction.
