Immanuel Lutheran Church marks 60th anniversary in Polk
The Immanuel Lutheran Church near Polk observed its 60th anniversary with a Mission Festival and special services. Rev. B Holm spoke on faith and baptism in the morning, Rev. W Mohler and Rev. Wm Butzke preached afternoon sermons, and the choir performed Bach selections. The congregation began in 1873 and grew to 62 voting members, 200 communicants, and 283 souls, with 182 voting members signed over 60 years.

Modern Denver Fire Station Impresses Visitor
A visitor toured a Denver city fire station and witnessed advanced apparatus a hundred feet ladder, hospital on wheels with doctor and drugs, anesthetic capability, iron lung, diver suit and acetylene torch. The tour highlighted the duties and responsibilities of well trained professional firemen.

Obituary of Clara Libby Hunt Colby and family ties
Clara Libby Hunt born August 12 1864 in Eaton County Michigan emigrated to York County in 1876. She died September 2 at age 75 years 21 days at the home of her son George M Colby in Silver Creek. She married George C Colby March 9 1882. two daughters and two sons survived along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Interment followed at Arborville cemetery after services at Polk Methodist Church. Her first husband predeceased her in 1918 and later married Eugene Gray in 1928 who died in 1933.

Mrs Ava Moore and a Fremont companion were seriously hurt Sunday when their car was struck by a Chicago and Northwestern railway switch engine. Mrs Moore a Fremont postal telegraph operator suffered serious hip injuries and is noted as Ava Hill formerly. She taught a Polk county country school years ago.

Dope fiends forced entry into the Crow Drug Store in Polk Sunday afternoon through a rear window into living quarters. They stole about fifteen dollars worth of morphine and cocaine, while other merchandise was left undisturbed. Mr and Mrs Crow were in Omaha. two suspicious characters were seen in the alley nearby.

Platte county treasurer plans this week to issue distress warrants for unpaid auto taxes from 1935 to 1938. About 2,000 cases exist and roughly 1,000 warrants have been prepared. Warrants will be turned over to the county sheriff after completion.
