Motorists who received licenses after the 1937 law change must renew by the expiration date. Current licenses issued Sept 1 1937 begin a two year validity. Renewal costs 76 cents and requires present license. no exam for renewals. First Sheriff Sale To Satisfy Personal Tax Bill
The first sheriff sale to satisfy a delinquent personal tax bill will be held Friday at 2pm. Sheriff Herb Person announced the 1934 four door Dodge coach, owned by Clifford Koenigstein of Omaha, is offered to the highest bidder to cover a $222.11 tax bill. Delinquent tax collections have totaled $13,933.70 with $6,836.68 paid to the sheriff and $7,097.02 to the treasurer. Five special deputies began their second week handling distress warrants across rural and urban areas.

Virgil Hotchkiss Killed by Auto Near Utica
Virgil Hotchkiss 16 son of Mr and Mrs Hubert Hotchkiss living near Utica was killed Tuesday evening when struck by a car driven by A C Morrill of Stromsburg. The Morrills and daughter were returning from Minnesota when the accident occurred about 8 o clock. Morrill slowed to pass an oncoming car with blinding lights and Hotchkiss and another youth were walking on the highway. Hotchkiss was taken to a York hospital and died a few hours later. He formerly lived in Osceola and was grandson of Mr and Mrs Gilbert Hotchkiss of Osceola.
