Applications For Corn Loans Now Being Taken
Polk County PMA Chairman Richard C. Sealey says the office is accepting applications for loans on the 1953 corn crop. Sealing of the 1953 crop may begin in November after finishing 1953 wheat loans and settlements on 1952 corn. New storage space at Stromsburg and Osceola will help. Farmers with 1953 farm plans including soil conserving practices should report completed practices to avoid "no compliance" penalties.

Reunion of Swanson family spans seven at Lindsay event
Mr and Mrs Clifford Cramer and Mr and Mrs Harold Miller attended the Grand Lodge of the Odd Fellows in Beatrice on Wednesday and Thursday. Ms Evir Hoogner of Kingsburg California visited with her sister Mrs A J Swanson and Mr Swanson. Mrs Swanson hosted relatives Friday at Lindsay. A reunion was held Sunday for seven siblings and spouses. Mr Swanson joined a group of 42 relatives and returned home Monday.

James Reeves Rites Held Friday Fore noon
Funeral services for James T. Reaves 82 were held at 10 Friday at Metz Chapel with Rev G F Savery officiating. Burial followed at Stromsburg. Reeves born December 25 in Nevada Iowa was a Polk County resident 36 years, a bachelor and long time teamster. He is survived by brother Charles Reeves Enid Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews. Farmers urged to start a complete rat control program to protect grain and property from costly pests.
