Nebraska candidates defend defense and foreign policy views
Four of Nebraska's eight congressional candidates answered questions on defense and foreign policy. Zorinsky, Anderson, and Smith offered divergent stances on military budget cuts and funds for domestic programs. Hansen emphasized congressional scrutiny of arms sales and nuclear reactor exports, while Zorinsky and Anderson supported limited cuts with reallocation. All favored engaging the Soviet Union for arms reductions. Zorinsky and Anderson supported recognizing Vietnam and opening trade. Smith opposed both.
