Fightmaster widow funeral and community notes

Mrs. Hannah A. Fightmaster 81, widow of Warren Fightmaster, died at York General Hospital after years of poor health. Funeral held Friday at Metz Chapel York. she left a daughter Myrna Skaden and three grandchildren. Also reports on local clubs, church groups, and school paper notes, with community events from Oct. 6 to 7 conventions and Osceola activities.

Polk County Hosts Open House for New Upper Clear Creek Dam

The second dam on Upper Clear Creek will control flood water from 2600 acres and is the largest in Polk County with 37000 yards of earth fill. View the structure Sunday afternoon Oct 26 from 2 to 4 pm at farmer Philip Kaczor’s farm west of Osceola. Supervisors and SCS personnel will explain operations.

Cubs stay unbeaten by defeating Huskies 20 to 12

Polk High School’s Cubs remained undefeated as they beat Henderson Huskies 20 to 12 to extend their streak to six victories. Dennis Sealey and Dick Mundt led Polk’s offense while the Cubs defense stopped key Huskies plays and an extra point try.
