WSCS Met on October 8 at Methodist Church Parlor
The WSCS held an October 8 meeting in church parlors with leaders presenting a lesson on rekindling the inner life through prayer. Scripture reading, meditation on prayer, a poem, and songs were shared. Rev. Jensen offered the closing prayer. Public notes include subscription updates and political opinions. A Bible study begins October 15 at 9:30 am in the First Methodist church led by John Stalions.

Lyman Aker Rites Highlight Nebraska Community Leader
Lyman Louis Aker 75 of Harvard Nebraska died in Salt Lake City Utah on Wednesday October 7 after a life spent on the family farm and in public service. He graduated from the School of Agriculture Lincoln in 1911 and returned to Harvard to farm. He served on District 68 school board, oversaw Farmers Elevator finances, managed Harvard baseball and softball, and helped the Harvard Saddle Club. Surviving are three daughters, one son, two brothers and two sisters, with funeral services held October 10 at the Harvard Methodist Church.

LCW Meeting in Trinity Lutheran Hosts Oct 20
LCW of Trinity Lutheran met Wednesday afternoon in church parlors with Mildred Norquest and Kathy Brazda starting and closing the program. The theme was One Gift. A duet by Jeanine Hoffman and Leila Ramsey with Frances Tenniges accompanied. Members Edna Steenbock and Bertha Brazda assisted. Fern Myers opened with a prayer. The clothing drive will be picked up at Thanksgiving. Linclowing ingathering ongoing. truck pickup this month. Auxiliary to donate and finish Legion Hall cleanup
The American Legion Auxiliary met in the Legion Hall Monday evening with Velma Stephens presiding. Doris Ostberg reported on the Legislative bulletin and a $10 donation to the Nebraska Opportunity Center at Columbus was approved. Oct 27 is set to finish cleaning the hall. Music was provided in Myrtle Werner’s absence by Arlyce Lind with Connie Jones and Merna Merchant. Lunch served to 17 members by Werner, Flodman, Richardson and Bills.
