Student Robert Scholz Dies of Polio in Lincoln
Robert Scholz 20, Osceola native and University of Nebraska junior, died Saturday October 9 after a ten day Polio illness at Orthopedic Hospital Lincoln. Survived by parents Mr and Mrs Martin Scholz and brother Raymond. Private services held October 13 at Kepner Funeral Home Osceola cemetery interment.

Farmers Day planned by Polk County Extension group
The Crop Improvement Association set plans for mid winter Farmers Day in the 4-H building after their September 30 meeting. An all day program will feature specialists. Raymond Kepner of the Osceola Chamber of Commerce spoke of cooperative promotion. The 1949 Food Train from Nebraska will be known as the goodwill train.

The Commodity Credit Corporation announces price support for 1948 corn at 1.35 dollars per bushel in Polk County. Loans and purchases run through June 30, 1949 with on demand maturity no later than September 1, 1949. Corn must grade No. 3 or better, moisture limits by crib size, and shelled corn under 13.5 percent moisture. Delivery in Sept 1949. purchase agreement required by June 30 1949 with 0.5 cent per bushel fee.
