Polk County ASC Committee Names for Year

Farmers named to serve on the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Polk County Committee include Richard C. Sealey as Chairman, Ernest E. Lees as Vice Chairman, and Leo Cockson as Third Member with terms remaining. Marvin Dawes and F A Donelson were elected first and second alternates. The 1967 election occurred September 29 at the county ASCS office with delegates chosen from ASC community committee elections.

Ralph Simpson Family Tops Polk County Conservation Award

The Ralph Simpson family of Stromsburg won the Outstanding Conservation Family of Polk County at a Lincoln banquet on September 18. Attending were local figures from Stromsburg Osceola Silver Creek and Pershing Auditorium. The award cites a land program with a dam recreat ional area terraces diversions irrigation tree plantings and grass seeding along with a Polk County Conservation School Day tour of the farm. This marks the 12th annual Polk County SWCC award with the 1966 winner being the Ralph Jones family.

Junior High MYF Elects Officers at Polk Methodist

The Polk Methodist Church Junior High MYF met on September 14 at 4 00 PM. New officers elected were President Kent Anderson Vice President Pamela Ostberg Secretary Mary Sue Lindburg Treasurer Debbie Miller and News Reporter Wanda Flodman. The group voted to have the MYF choir sing the third Sunday each month and to raise money for dues this year. Lunch was served by Mrs Harold Anderson.
