Polk County Historical Society Holds Annual Meet

Mrs Curtis Flodman was reelected president at the Polk County Historical Society annual meeting in Stromsburg after a banquet. Doris Grossnicklaus Osceola was elected vice president Philip Nyberg is treasurer and Esther Fellows Stromsburg secretary. A chartered bus trip October 12 to Arbor Lodge Nebraska City was planned with recognition for Arnon Dover Mrs Irvin Anderson and Dwight Burney.

Mrs Frank Chalmers Succumbs In Texas

Mrs Frank Chalmers 47 formerly Betty Joan Alfred of Polk died Thursday morning of a heart attack in a Houston hospital She was born November 13 1920 in Polk and was a 1938 Polk High School graduate Funeral services were held Saturday in Houston Survivors include her husband two daughters a son her mother five sisters and three brothers.

Polk High Cubs grind to a 6-2 victory over the Genoa Orioles Friday night at Genoa. The Cubs finally produced a fourth quarter drive for the lone touchdown after a first half seesaw, with Bob Brockevelt and Dob Neuhaus keying the late march.

ASC community committees elected in Polk County

The 1967 Polk County ASC community committeemen were elected by mail on September 22. Precinct results list three winners per community, with Richard Sealey announcing the results. Spike Stevens Tops at Nebraska Horse Show

Spike Stevens earned high point rider honors at the Nebraska Horse Clubs Association Show in Hastings. The Route 66 Riders attended. Jr. show results featured JoAnn Stevens placing 3rd in Reining and 1st in Pony Race 48 in and 49-52 in. Accidentally listed names include Tom Stevens and Dennis Richards with multiple top finishes across events.
