Everett Green Receives Special Legion Citation at 7th District Event

At the Lindsay convention on Sept 28 Everett Green of the Lemuel R. Wilcox Post was honored with a Citation for distinguished service in American Citizenship. The Auxiliary earned a Citation of Merit and the history book project won second place. Polk will host the 1970 convention. Attendees included Larry Coover LaVaughn Adelson Don Miller Don Johnson and others from Lincoln and surrounding areas.

Hospital Notes of Local Residents

Paul Strand returned home from Osceola Hospital on Saturday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Russell Fjell returned Friday from Osceola Hospital where they had been since a Monday night pickup accident. Dennis Sealey a senior at Wayne State College entered the Methodist hospital in Sioux City Iowa for knee surgery after a football injury. Relatives and friends visited last Wednesday afternoon to honor Bessie Green on her birthday.

Polk Cubs Roll Genoa For First Win 28-14

Polk Cubs beat Genoa Orioles 28-14 to claim their first win of the season as Gary Warden’s squad forged two early touchdowns. Key plays featured Mike Lindburg and Mick Hoffman drives, a Bills touchdown on a 12 yard pass, and a late 4th-quarter surge with Bills driving for more points. Genoa’s offense struggled but trimmed the margin with a late touchdown and a 2-point pass. The Cubs face Clarks next Friday.
