Three delegates from the National Farm Loan Associations at David City attended the 30th anniversary Federal Land Bank convention in Rapid City South Dakota last Thursday and Friday. Presidents Bonard A Swanson of Oscoon and Ray M Berucka of David City and secretary treasurer W J Stead of David City attended among about 200 delegates. They discussed major changes in the farm and ranch loan field since the cooperative land bank system began 30 years ago.

Major Evans G Stephens at the U S Army Recruiting Station in Lincoln reports a Public Law 383 increase in burial reimbursements for Next of kin from 50 to 75 dollars for WWII remains to be interred in private or foreign cemeteries. Col H A Quinn Kansas City Quartermaster Depot notes burials abroad and in the U S will begin in October with transportation caskets and headstones covered and forms provided by escort. Col Quinn adds letters of inquiry to next of kin will be mailed as cemetery locations are reached in the program.

Floodlights at Polk Field Repaired and Upgraded
On September 16 Polk completed a new football field and activated lights. A burned out EVA transformer caused an hourlong outage before Aurora restored service by shedding load on two other transformers. The next day York replaced the defective unit and larger transformers were installed, prompting a temporary overhaul of the substation platform for support. Service returned at 3 40 AM. Consumers Public Power District now claims ample capacity for current and future load amid widespread electric appliance use.
