The United Methodist Women of Polk will hold a Christmas meeting on December 2 at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Special Christmas music by the Mothersingers and a play titled First Night by the Young Adults will be presented. members and friends are welcome.

Stockholders of the Farmers Co op Grain Association approved by a two to one vote at the November 18 meeting an expansion of the elevator facilities. New construction will be on the site of the present coal bins east of the elevator and will be poured concrete.
Mrs Doris Schultz of Waco and Van Johnson of Polk wed on November 13 at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev Norman Hannemann officiating. The ceremony included a double ring service and was followed by a reception hosted by Milton Klepper and family at the Waco Fire Barn. The couple plans to travel to California after Thanksgiving.
Mrs Lloyd Morris returned home Wednesday from Lincoln General hospital. Mrs Dennis Van Housen is a patient in St. Elizabeth hospital in Lincoln. Robert Stohl entered the Clarkson hospital in Omaha on Sunday.
The Jr Auxiliary met on November 20 1976 and distributed boxes of Christmas candles for sale. Names were drawn for gifts to be exchanged at the December 13 1976 bingo party at 8 p.m. A lunch was served. next meeting is December 18 1976 at 9 a.m.
Mr and Mrs Vern Jones were guests in the Howard Romsdal home at Bradshaw Thursday evening to honor Mrs Romsdal and Barbara on their birthdays.
Coach Mike Fleming fields a 17 man Polk High squad for 1976 77 season after disciplinary cuts. First game is at Bradshaw on Saturday December 4 with seniors Tom Carlstrom Vern Tallman and others listed. Schedule appears on Page 11.
Mr and Mrs Jim Wilson travel to Boulder Colorado after the sudden death of Mrs Wilsons only brother Dr Charles E Olmsted.
The Young Adults of the United Methodist Church sponsor an informal slide presentation by Bob Fagan of Grand Island. Fagan shares wildlife and scenery photos from the Rocky Mountains. The program is Tuesday night November 30 at 8 pm at the Methodist Church. Attendees welcome. no charge. lunch served.
Lanny Edward Tunks son of Mr and Mrs Leo Tunks celebrated his first birthday at home on Wednesday November 17 Grandparents and relatives attended with supper guests including Grandma Tunks Uncle Craig of Central City and Grandma and Grandpa Kohtz of Hampton Numerous friends Pam Green Janice Toni Melody Thomas of Polk sent gifts and well wishes
New C B Newtons were welcomed to their Bradshaw home Sunday evening by a group of Polk County families and Mrs Sharon Benson of York. Guests hosted a pot luck supper and presented a gift to the honorees. Card games and visiting provided the entertainment.
Richard A. Bicker of Immanuel Lutheran School Polk attended the Lutheran Principals Conference held Friday November 10 at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Forty principals from fifty one Lutheran schools in the Nebraska District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod attended the all day event.
Mr and Mrs Lee Harless were Friday evening lunch guests of Mr and Mrs Joe Ehn, Mr and Mrs Roy Glasser Jr. and Mr and Mrs Roy Glasser Sr. were Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs Robbie Glasser.
