Myron Johnson age 36 and Emerald Johnson 33 of Stromsburg perish in the week’s blizzard that paralyzed Polk county. Their bodies found Saturday near the Delbert Morris farm after a search by relatives and sheriff officials.

Royal Neighbors Meeting At Hardville Hall
Mrs Jake Harding and Mrs Robert Nelson hosted the Royal Neighbor Lodge at Hardville Hall Thursday afternoon. Oracle Edna Jones led the business meeting. Veterans pension rules eased for total disability eligibility
The Veterans Administration liberalized Extension 5, 1945 Rating Schedule allowing many Nebraska WWI and WWII veterans to qualify for a total non service connected pension of 72 dollars monthly at age 65 or more with 10 percent or more disability and inability to pursue substantial gainful work. At age 60 the combined disability must be 50 percent or more, and at 55 the requirement rises to 60 percent. Those under 65 receive 60 dollars monthly. Osceola County Officer M A Mills Jr offers assistance for applications or appeals and requests veterans bring all past disallowance correspondence.
