Mrs Harry Carlson encloses four dollars for a one year Polk Progress subscription and states she enjoys reading it. The Junior MYF of the Methodist church raked leaves in the church yard Saturday afternoon and held a wiener roast afterward.

Local Social Visits Noted Around Polk County

Sunday visitors included Mr and Mrs Rudolph Gustafson to Mr and Mrs David Ekdahl. Wednesday guests were Mir and Mrs Chauncey Gustafson and Mrs Leon Meerkatz and family to Mrs Dolan Hahn. Also Mr and Mrs Edwalt Klingsporn visited, and Mr and Mrs Ivan Johnson called on Mr and Mrs Homer Bagby in Aurora.

Polk WSCS Hears About Navajos

The Polk Methodist Church Women’s Society meeting on Thursday Nov 5 discussed sending six clothing boxes to South Vietnamese Relief and plans to aid the Indian Mission in New Mexico. An program on Navajo Indians featured speakers Mrs Oscar Sundberg Mrs Paul Strand Mrs Grant Johnson and Mrs Albert Sundberg with a vocal number by the ladies sextet. A Thanksgiving themed lunch followed.

Faithful Workers Club Hosts Halloween Meeting

The Faithful Workers Club met at Mrs Lyle Widge’s home October 25 with 11 members and one guest. Mrs Clarence Van Ostrand and Mrs Don Hudson led the program. The group voted to send $2 to the Platte Valley Opportunity Center and collected gifts for Nebraska Children's Home to be delivered before Christmas. Hostess gifts went to Mrs Don Hudson. refreshments were provided by Mrs Myron Norquest and Mrs Lyle Widge in a Halloween motif.

York welcomes home injured worker Mervin Branting

The community learns that Mervin Branting has returned to York after eleven months in Lincoln and Omaha hospitals following a fall from a tree while employed there. Also, Saturday guests Mr and Mrs Julius Johnson in Osceola celebrated their wedding anniversary. Mr and Mrs Paul Strand visited Lincoln on Saturday.

York Zone LWML Officers Meet at Emmanuel Church

The newly elected York Zone LWML officers met on Monday October 30 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Rev Walter Landgraf led devotions and offered counsel. Mirrs Kenneth Troester President distributed the new Zone By Laws to board members. Plans were set for All Officers Institute and Christian Growth Workshop next April at St John Lutheran Wahoo.
