Polk Cubs clinched a 42 to 0 victory over Silver Creek to finish the season 5 wins 2 ties 2 losses and claim third in the Goldenrod Conference. Key scorers included Joel Stevens Dob Neuhaus and Brad Sundberg as Polk moved the ball on nine drives and multiple offensive series. Silver Creek managed four first downs all by passes and could not sustain drives.
Three area churches sponsor a Christian Businessmen Crusade from November 12 to 19 with meetings at Polk Baptist Evangelical Free First Baptist Polk and Hordville Baptist. Crusade leaders include Pete Peterson and Lee Sanders, with Ray Hayward John Franz and others in Hutchinson and Dallas. Services start November 12 with music at Polk, Bible study and worship at 7 15 and 8 00, youth meeting November 18, and a basket dinner closing November 19 at Polk Baptist.
All Polk business houses observing closing hours will be closed Saturday November 11 Veterans Day. Elevators will remain open due to harvest pressure. see Vern and Dean for details.
Larry Johnson recalls ten months of Field Medical Service School at Camp Lejeune with Navy and Marine instructors teaching battlefield care NBC protection and evacuation. He graduated as Field Medical Technician and served in Portsmouth Neurosurgery Ward before moving to Information Dept duties. He plans to join the 5th Marine Division at Camp Pendleton awaiting orders for Vietnam.
The Polk local of the Farmers Union met in Stromsburg with President Parker Aker presiding. High school junior John Strong of Stromsburg spoke on Expo 67 in Montreal. County President Martin Jones and guests attended. Mrs Dwight Burney elected delegate to the state convention at Norfolk on November 28-29. Resolutions included a tribute to the late Wilbur Crown.

Twelfth grade Dan Graves Mary Lou Kealiher Kay Nielsen and Peg Sealey.

The Polk Methodist Church will present a Christmas program at 7 30 p m on December 21.
The American Legion Auxiliary held a Halloween party at the Legion Hall for preschool and kindergarten children along with Mrs Alvena Lind and mothers. Hosts Mrs Burdette Flodman Mrs Don Miller and Mrs Roger Werner served refreshments.
