Gary Garey Announces Resignation as Polk County Agent
Gary B. Garey county agent will resign effective December 31. He plans to enroll at Colorado State University in January to pursue a Master of Science in extension education. Garey has served Polk County as agent for ten years and was an assistant in Sherman County for one and a half years.

Polk Hosts Second Teen Dance With Notable Turnout
Polk held its second teen dance last Saturday night attracting about 200 youths from Stromsburg Osceola Central City Hardville Clarks and Benedict. The hall was cleaned painted and refurbished enhancing the evening, and American Legion members with volunteers provided refreshments for a successful community event.

Two Die in Head on Crash North of Stromsburg
A head on collision 1 percent miles north of Stromsburg at 11 am Monday killed Mrs Wallace Peterson 43 of near Stromsburg and Mrs Mary Ziemba 75 of Genoa. Helen Ziemba driver of a car also injured along with two others. Passers by took the injured to Jeffrey Memorial hospital Osceola. Deer crossing blamed for the crash.
