Berger and Son In Polk Area Car Crash

Elmer Berger and his 8 year old son Roger of Ft. Collins Colorado were in a two car crash near Ansley while en route to Polk. Berger sustained broken ribs and injuries while Roger suffered cuts bruises and an eye injury. They were hospitalized in Loup City and Osceola before returning home.

Auxiliary Sponsors Hallowe'en Party For Children

The American Legion Auxiliary hosted a Hallowe'en party on Monday afternoon October 29 for preschool children of members and all Polk School kindergarten pupils. Thirty three children and ten mothers attended. Games followed by refreshments were served.

Mr and Mrs Ted Dittmer announce the birth of a daughter Kathie Jean on October 22 at York hospital weight 9 pounds 3 ounces. Mr and Mrs James Karloff report the birth of a son Jeffrey Allen on October 26 at Osceola hospital weight 8 pounds 3 ounces.

CYF of the Polk area joined a Platte Valley CYF Rally held Thursday to Saturday at the Stromsburg Baptist Church. Chaplain Park Tucker from the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary spoke, and a Friday banquet was held. Notables Mrs. Raymond Sundberg and Mrs. Calmar Johnson visited Mrs. Clara Anderson at Osceola hospital. Harold Yohe of Filley and Calmar Jones of Lincoln also visited on Thursday.

Polk High Cubs Roll Over St Edward 52 0

The Polk High Cubs defeated St Edward 52 to 0 on Friday night. Arlan Stromberg and Galen Sterner led scoring with early TDs, followed by Kroger and Crow and multiple ground gains. Substitutes added the late scores as Polk improved to 52-0 final with Silver Creek next home game at 8:00 PM.

Hospital Roundup in Osceola and Nearby Cities

The Osceola area reports several medical updates. Mrs. Clara Anderson remains a patient at Annie Jeffrey Memorial Hospital. Judy Ann O Shea was released and stays with her grandmother. Bill Shostrom was hospitalized Friday after a slight stroke. Baby Tommy Flodman, 10 months old, was treated last week in Osceola. Mrs. Willard Adelson is hospitalized at Litzenberger Hospital in Central City after surgery Monday. Elmer Berger of Ft. Collins, Colorado, is hospitalized in Osceola. Frank Schaepler was admitted to Aurora Hospital last Friday.
