The 1947 Mand season opens with a first rehearsal Monday June 2 at 6 00 p m in the fire hall. Instrumental lessons will run Monday Tuesday and Wednesday each week. About thirty students are listed. A bass horn is available for loan. Eligible students entering Polk High in September may enroll by contacting Mr Ramp. The first concert is scheduled for Wednesday June 4 at 8 15 p m.

Revival meetings start Sunday June 1 at First Baptist Church Hordville led by Rev Edick A Anderson with Rev Lawrence Swanson of Platte Valley Conference Missionary as leader Swanson known for child evangelism will conduct daily children's meetings at 10 am and speak at morning and evening services plus 8 pm evenings except Saturday Gospel choruses object lessons Bible memory drills and religious films are planned to engage families and children
Sunday visits linked residents from Fullerton York Lincoln Bradshaw Mountrose and Mount Rose area with numerous local families. A baby boy was born Friday May 23 at Lincoln General Hospital to Mr and Mrs Bousquet formerly Adelaide Lindberg. visitors included Rev Earl Eaton and relatives from D C Morris Ralph Fisher Pete Schrader and others sharing news of gatherings and arrivals.
The Commercial Club announces all business houses not normally open on holidays will close Memorial Day Friday May 30. The Blue Rock Shoot medals event moves to Sunday June 1 due to rain, with gold silver and leather medals in the contest. Also notes social visits: Clarence Carlson family from Osceola called in Osceola. Rosalie Ekstrom to Osceola for an indefinite visit. Virgil Kisler family and Henry Kisler dined with A L Gibron in Central City.

The Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Sowers Club with 70 members will visit Polk on Tuesday morning June 10 arriving at 9 15 and departing for Hordville at 9 80. Two chartered Burlington Trailways buses will transport the group dressed in red hats and ties with cream jackets bearing a Sower emblem. They will hand out favors and small gifts to welcoming crowds.
James Lindberg and Glenn were among business visitors seen in Grand Island on Monday evening with Vera and Gwendolyn Stevens also in attendance during the visit.
